TV problem - sound distortion?

When watching tv via the freeview box the sound occasionally becomes distorted by a buzzing noise.

When the freeview box is unplugged the put back in again the problem goes but returns again after about three minutes.

Its a decent freeview box and it works on the other tv's in the house, so im thinking it might be the actual tv, or a scart problem?

But im not that advanced in electronics, so could antone offer their views or suggestions??

TV problem - sound distortion?
It does sound like a poor earth connection and may be associated with the scart lead plug or even the socket in the t.v. Try reversing the scart lead if scart to scart. I have had problems with gold plated scart leads before also and fitting a standard one helped.
Reply:This happened to me!

Check that the scart plug is firmly connected to the freeview box and tv and make sure it remains that way, sometimes if the scart plug is loose or coming out abit it makes a fuzzing or humming noise.

Just check all your connections, its dead easy, so try that!

Hope that works
Reply:Is the buzzing from the TV speakers or from the TV or the Freeview box?

Is it a plasma or lcd tv ?

How to watch TV on my Laptop(from my tv)???

I am trying to find a way to be able to watch tv on my laptop by connecting it to my tv?

I have a tv tuner so please dont recommend one of these as that is not what im asking for...

I have the cables as if i were to watch a movie from my laptop through my tv, but is there a program where i can do this in reverse?

How to watch TV on my Laptop(from my tv)???
You need an external TV tuner to watch TV on your laptop. You must connect the cable to the TV tuner and the TV tuner to the USB. Type external TV tuner on USB TV tuner on the web or on ebay and find one for yourself.
Reply:I won't recommend a tv tuner. However, did you install the software that came with the TV tuner? Usually the software is included and is needed prior to viewing anything on your laptop. If not, this is the first step to achieving your goal. Next make sure that your current cable is split so that a signal can go into your tv and your laptop.

Tv on pc with usb tv tuner?

i have a new pc running vista with windows media centre i want to be able to watch and record tv on my computer from what i understand you can buy a usb tv tuner is this correct will it work?

Tv on pc with usb tv tuner?
Here is one place.
Reply:I think you need one with at least a dual tuner, so you can watch one channel and record another, and also one that's approved by Vista.

Also, i know a lot of people use a separate hard disk to keep their recorded programs on, like a dedicated PVR, personal video recorder .. depends on your usage.
Reply:Yip, I bought one last week. It works but unless you have a really good aeriel or are going to plug cable or sat into it, or can access digital freeview (not quite sure how it works) dont bother, as the quality is not great.

I used to use my pc as a tv before, and bought a tv tuner that could take cable, it was great. Very Handy. I would recommend Hauppage.
Reply:Oh yes, and it is great. I got a tv tuner with my HP laptop/tablet. Hp has tuners for their machines.

It works well.

I also have a haugpagge set up on the Dell [26" screen]

It plays, records, does live signals. The TV tuners are just great.
Reply:TV TUNNER IS AWSOME BUT JUST MAKE SURE YOU REINSTALL COMPUTER MORE CORRECTLY IF YOU EVER PLAN ON RECORDING TV SHOWS ON YOUR COMPUTER CAUSE IT WILL GET MORE FRAGMENTED(VERY SLOW) IF NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED!!!

Reinstall Computer as Suggested on website below and you shall NEVER AGAIN HAVE PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!

Reply:It will work fine as long as the tv tuner is windows vista compatible. Then you will be able to watch and record TV on your pc. Good luck and hope this helps.

Addicted to TV?

Is it possible to be addicted to watching tv?

Someone I know litterally sits infront of the tv non-stop. She goes to work and comes home and just sits there ... and even if shes reading a book the tv HAS to be on ... If she wants a nap its infront of the tv .. I mean litterally she eats sleeps drinks infront of the tv ... If there was a way to have a tv plugged in the bathroom I'm sure there'd be one.

Even when she visitors the tv is on (it's really rude)she even calls people to talk to them about whats on the tv.

I don't get it.. WHY?

Addicted to TV?
Sounds like she may have a problem, but she either doesn't realize it or doesn't care. You need to find out which and either help her or if she's unwilling to change let her be. Hopefully some day she'll start wanting more out of life.
Reply:Well it is odd but some people can get addictive towards things.
Reply:Hummm . . . It does sound like she is addicted to tv !

However my nan does that, she says it is because she doesn't like the sound of a quiet house - so she has her tv on the loudest possible volume thing.
Reply:yes, some stupid women cant liv without the t.v on.lol
Reply:lol. sounds like me. lol. tv is addictive. and entertaining. fun to talk about. learn new things like on HGTV. and see all the actors that get paid to be stupid. its all fun to watch and talk about.

but when I read this question, it sounds EXACTLY like me. lol. yes, I think it is funny. I don't go to anyone's house though. just stay home.
Reply:you can get hooked to it, i guess.
Reply:i personally likes very much to look at t.v but not that much. Maybe t.v is her everything and so she wants to always to occupied doing something when idle and the only thing is watch t.v. or maybe there are alot of t.v shos that intersest her u never knos
Reply:I suggest getting your friend out of the house and AWAY from tv. She might be a media fiend. Maybe she doesn't have enough interesting things in her life, go out to a bar, do something crazy. Just drag her butt into your car and go for a joy ride. Listen to some music and dance with her. Just get her active.
Reply:She hasn't been introduced to any other hobbies, like practicing a musical instrument, or working out. You have to make her see that there are more things than work and television.
Reply:well I'm thinking shes lonely if she has a boyfriend or husband shes sad or trying to give him the silent treatmeant i don't really know anyone who's that addicted but its probably and emotion thing
Reply:It's better to be a TV addicted than a drug addicted.

Why won't my TV respond to a remote?

There is nothing wrong with the remote itself - we have two of the same TV and two different remotes and both TV's use to work for both remotes. Now one tv still works fine for both remotes and the other won't respond to either remote at all. I'd just get up and change the channel but I can't turn the tv/vcr mode on or off without a remote. Anyone have any suggestions?? How can I get my TV to be receptive to the romote or does anyone know how to get the TV on and off the tv/vcr mode without the remote??? I just want to be able to use the tv with the dvd player and game system. I don't have the manual anymore and I'm not taking a cheap TV to the repair shop. (The only buttons on the actual TV are volume, channel, and menu.)

Why won't my TV respond to a remote?
Check to be sure that the sensor on the TV is not blocked by something, or dirty. You may be able to access the TV's functions by holding down a combination of the buttons on the front of the TV.
Reply:maybe the battery in your remote is dead. or you need a new tv. i dont know ?
Reply:maybe the battery's dead
Reply:If your remotes are universal programmable remotes, you might try reprogramming them for the TV that has quit responding to them. Otherwise, the remote sensor on you're TV might be damaged or dirty. TV/VCR mode is normally a command on the VCR. You might also try to program the remotes for the VCR itself and the TV.
Reply:maybe the infrared eye is blocked or dirty on the TV in question. That's the first thing I'd check..

52" LCD TV FULL HD, has Audio but no picture, any help?

I have a seven month old 52" LCD TV FULL HD(Samsung). Up until last night, the TV has worked well. I turned the TV off using the remote however, when I turned it on this morning, there was audio, all functions, but no picture but when you look very closely at the screen you should be able to see the image changing, but as there is no back light there is no luminescence so it will appear black. After two days it starts to work perfect again. Three days after I am with the same problem. this is the third time with this problem. first time was two month ago and the tv starts to work perfect after 5 min. Now If I wait for 5 to 6 hours and switch on the TV again the TV works normally. So it seems that the TV needs 5 to 6 hrs of 'rest' before it can work normally again after a viewing.

The problem usually happens when I switch off the TV for the day and switch it on again the next day. Please I need to know, what the problem is? What is the cost to fix it?

52" LCD TV FULL HD, has Audio but no picture, any help?
Hi,

Here what, that should not happen to your TV or any tv out there. Such things like no picture but sound or reverse is clearley faulty circuit board(s). Since you are still under the 1 year manufacturers waranty, why dont you get it fixed, you don't pay a cent withing the fanufacturer's period. Not sure about the shiping cost though, but give them a call and find out. Did you know that if it cannot be fixed, they'll give a new one, either the exact model or a newer model!

Good Luck!
Reply:I sell TV's and all the Tv's we sell come with at least a one year warranty so you should be covered through the place you bought.

TV's: Widescreen vs Fullscreen?

Ok I am trying to decide wether to get a widescreen tv or a fullscreen tv. I realize that most things are starting to be shown in widescreen and I actually prefer it but some things are not. If I were to play a fullscreen movie, tv show or video game on a widescreen lcd tv, would it mess up the picture in any way? What about if I play a widescreen movie, tv show or video game on fullscreen lcd tv? will it stretch the picture out or anything?

TV's: Widescreen vs Fullscreen?
WIDESCREEN! Videogames will just have a bigger play area and it will not stretch anything full screen movies just dont take up the whole screen
