TV Technicians! Panasonic vs. Polaroid?

My friend bought a Polaroid 26 TV from Walmart, the same day I went and bought a Panasonic 37 LCD from a TV store. He came over and saw my Panasonic and said I wasted my money on crap. I think I made a smart move. Panasonic is a good brand of TV, as are Sony, Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Hitachi. He kept on saying Polaroid is a good brand. He hates it when I say it sucks. When it's cheap, it's for a reason! The $1300 for the Panasonic may hurt for a little while, but I know that I pay more for quality as I have had ZERO problems with it. It makes the DirecTV look great! Well, last Thursday, the Polaroid went out! $492 down the toilet. He is SO upset right now. While he is sulking and fuming about that Polaroid, I am enjoying my DirecTV and PS3 and Wii on my Panasonic LCD. When will people STOP buying cheap junk? Damn! Polaroid lasted only for 3 weeks. What is the typical lifespan of a Panasonic? How long will mine last?

TV Technicians! Panasonic vs. Polaroid?
What get what you paid for... With electronic go with brand name; because if something goes wrong; it will be pricey, also most no brand had bad customer service. People should know better, come on; is walmart(cheapest retail there's) some peopel just wanted to risk it. I suggest if you can't afford it brand name tv, just wait for onsales one or do monthly payment(no interest one). Did you friend try to return to walmart with that tv.
Reply:Polaroid sucks at making cameras thats why they stopped.Panasonic is the best of the best of the best.
Reply:Let us be nice to your friend for now. The Polaroid displays are known to be some of the worst on the market. Panasonic PLASMAS on the other hand are known to be the best value on the market. Panasonic LCDs are OK, not great.

However, to answer your question, TV lifespan can vary on user habits and environment., Just take care of it and it will get years.
Reply:(laughs) He deserved what he got.....

Your TV will have a life span of at least 10 years and up to 15 years.....

WHY? Because most GOOD companies provide parts for 11 to 12 years, and AFTER that....no parts.

And so, as long as your TV set doesn't need any repairs after the 11 year average....you'll be watching your TV set....

My Mitsubishi lasted 18 years....but then the Video Jungle IC took a dump and I couldn't get it from the manufacturer or anybody else....

That's how long they CAN LAST if you're lucky.....
Reply:There is no comparison to begin with.

One is an absolute piece of sh#t and the other is a top quality brand name.

The Polaroid lasted 3 weeks hey , your friend is lucky to get that long out of it.

Could he have bought a worse TV ?

I doubt it.

You Get What You Pay For - your friend didn't care about quality and got exactly what he paid for.

When it comes to the Panasonic I don't think you will have any troubles at all and should get at least 10 yrs out of it , if not longer - as long as you look after it.
