Moved TV, now Directv doesn't work?

Moved tv from one side of the room to the other. I only disconnected from the wall, not the TV. I am technically capable. Even transponders are"0" sometimes the tuner fails and the LNB always fails. I get no guide and no channels. I do have a second TV off of the same dish that has no problems. I checked all the connections and tried 2 different cables. These cables are about 50ft in length. The original cable was about 25ft. What else could have happened to cause the failure?

Well, it depends....When you unplugged the TV set it could have forgotten whether it was tuned to channel 3 or you were actually using Video 1 or Video 2 as your Input connection from the Direct TV box......





I'd start there.....





Now IF you have the Direct TV Logo appearing when you start up the TV and the Box...then forget the instructions above....





You would need to make sure your Satellite cable is DIRECTLY CONNECTED to the box with NOTHING else making the connections.....and I wouldn't really trust that Banana Connector you used to connect the extra 10 foot cable on the ORIGINAL cable.....





You see, your BOX sends DC power to your LNB outside to amplify the satellite signal....and that BANANA PLUG may be blocking that power if it's AC coupled.....OR if you used a SPLITTER which most likely will block the power to your dish....





You may have to go to RADIO SHACK and tell them you need an adaptor that will allow DC power to pass thru it......





That 2nd TV has it's own box I'll bet, and it's using LNB # 2 and your faulty unit is using LNB #1.....





You need power......
Reply:I don't know my DirecTv does weird unexplainable things all the time. First I'd try and find a reset button (the newer boxes have those). Double check all the connections are correct (just to be 100% sure) If you can't find the reset button or it doesn't work unplug it (from any electrical sources) for 10 seconds or so. If it still doesn't work call 1-888-directv. I've had unexplainable outages before, called the number, and the customer service rep did something and then it worked again. But again, who knows ... I swear those boxes are extra EXTRA sensitive.

Reply:Sounds like you have a problem with the cable going to the LNB. What you can try first is take the receiver to the other room in the house %26amp; hook it up there. This will confirm if it still works ok. If all works well there bring either receiver back to the room where you have problems %26amp; inspect the cable that supplies the LNB, especially the connector %26amp; if you have to, follow it back to the LNB,possibly there is a problem where it gets screwed into the wall (if you have a wall plate).

Reply:sounds like it's probably your directv Receiver that may have been damaged while moving? A drop? A jolt? You'd be surprised as to how sensitive some of those are. Call Directv and their customer service may be able to do something for you, or replace it.
Reply:first its most likely no tthe dish because it was working fine until ou moved it sounds like a cable problem or u have on wrong out put cahnnel. make sure the coax is going from sat-in jack on the receiver to antenna jack on the tv. second check out put channel, output cahnnel is determined by the cables u are using, red white and yellow cables = video 1 , video 2 , standard coax = 2,3,or 4 , good luck but these are the only two things it could be i promise you didnt damage it as one said
