Change TV to computer?
Your TV can't really "become" a PC unless you plan to purchase a settop device that provides limited browsing and email functionality such as WebTV (don't know if they even make that anymore or not).

If you have a PC that you can connect to your TV, you can then use your television as a monitor to browse etc. There are several scenarios that will allow you to do this. One is if your TV already has a D-sub type monitor connection available. If it has a monitor connection, simply plug in your computer's video card connection to it, and you're all set.

If it does not, then you will need to purchase either a video card with a video out port that matches what you have available on your TV (component, composite, HDMI, etc.) or a specific device called a scan converter which is made to convert your PC's video signal into one usable by your TV (the two devices use very different signals).

Once you get all that setup and working, you will need to be able to share your Internet connection with your brother. All you need for that is a router or hub. You plug your incoming high speed connection into the router, and then use one of the remaining outgoing ports to connect a network cable to both PC's (yours connected to the TV, and your brothers). If you have wireless capability, you should consider purchasing a wireless router and wireless card for your computer connected to the TV and/or your brother's computer.

I put a link below to a scan converter available for purchase, but it's just an example, there are many other brands (and as I mentioned, you can also get an internal video card that will serve the same purpose.

Best wishes on your endeavor!
