Calibration lcd tv?

im thinking of buying a tv to get more bang for my buck. so ive looked at everything from a vizio to a aquis even dlp's. my problem that i have cam accross is after spending all the money and what i need to do all i found out that i should or wisely is advised to calibrate my tv after about 150 hrs or so. my question is. does every tv need calibrated and who or what is the best way to calibrate it. also who is certified to calibrate these tv's and who should i trust. im totally lost on calibrations. i do though understand the concept of calibrating a tv with the color contrast and picture quality but is it worth it with tv's on the market and is there truth in these calibrations or is it a way to get more money out of the tv's. thanks...

Calibration lcd tv?
Like most people you do NOT need a professional “calibration,” especially at intervals of 150 hours of display use. If you purchase a well-designed, well-built digital television it is extremely unlikely that you would benefit from a professional calibration. Most new digital displays are equipped with at least one preferable display mode setting that will provide sufficiently accurate color fidelity after a little tweaking. Professional display calibrations are best left to professional applications as well as high-budget, large-screen home theater installations.

Simply obtain one of the display optimization (aka “calibration”) DVDs, such as “Avia” or “Digital Video Essentials,” to help you properly adjust the settings on your display for your particular viewing environment. If you choose to purchase the Avia or DVE discs you would then have the freedom to regularly optimize your TV settings as often as you like. (You should recheck your display settings no less than once per year.) As an alternative, if you do not already own one, you can obtain a THX Certified DVD movie, such as The Incredibles, which includes the supplemental THX Optimizer utility to help you optimize your display settings.

If you are fairly serious about color fidelity you have another, more cost-effective alternative to costly professional display calibrations. You can purchase a good quality, inexpensive colorimeter, such as one of the models from GretagMacbeth, Datacolor, etc., and regularly calibrate your own display at a great cost savings.
