No HD TV NO TV?

Are we heading toward a society that MUST use HD television or else no tv?





I compare this situation to the 666 system that will be imposed on society after the rapture. In the book of Revelation, we read that only those people who bear the mark of the beast EITHER on their right hand or forehead will have the right to live in society, to buy food, clothes, gasoline, etc.





I see this HD tv as a threat from the government.





The famous "IF YOU DON'T" statement indicates a threat because it is saying that if people want to watch tv, they MUST get the HD tv or else stay without television PERIOD.





In other words, if you want water, you MUST GO TO THE WELL.





What is your view of this NO HD TV, NO TV AT ALL?

No HD TV NO TV?
The issue has nothing at all to do with HD TV. Current Broadcast television uses an analog signal. Analog signals require much more bandwidth (space) in the available spectrum of waves than do digital broadcast signals.





In a effort to provide the required number of broadcast possibilities the FCC has chosen to require many types of radio frequency broadcasts to move to the digital spectrum. Radio communications, cell phones, data transmissions have all already converted to digital. on Feb 1 2009 all television broadcasts will be required to move to digital transmissions, not HD transmissions.





Regular definition television sets will still work, if they have digital receivers, or are retrofitted with a digital receiver conversion box.
Reply:First of all HDTV and Digital Tv are two totally different things.
Reply:You can buy a converter what that will cost I am not sure. I don't really see this as much different to if you don't buy a color tv you can't watch tv in color or if you don't buy cable you only get 4 channels. Granted I don't like the fact that you won't have tv at all but to me this is just part of progression.

Ok, had to get that out. In actuality the Beast is allowing you to use your old analog tv with a converter box. He's even giving you a coupon for $40 off (they're currently $53 at Walmart). If you have cable or satellite, you don't need a convereter box and your tv will continue to work as always.
Reply:I agree completely with the others. Your view on the situation is full of mis-information and paranoia. Digital, not HD, and the government isn't MAKING you do anything. Since when is television a necessity of life? Damn Bible beaters going all willy nilly because they're scared they'll miss Oprah.
Reply:And another Govt rant based on ignorance and misinformation. As other have stated we're going Digital in 2009 and NOT HD and the dif between the two is huge.





If you have cable and or satellite you would never even know there was a switch unless someone told you. Since Analog takes up at least 4 times more bandwidth then Digital we are changing over to free up frequencies.





These frequencies will be used for public safety like Police, Fire and especially for disaster management communications. After spending 2 weeks cleaning up after Katrina the latter is sorely needed.





Step up the the 21st century, will ya?
