My tv is being stupid...?

So, I was watching some tv.

And then I was like, wow, I wanna play some Wii now. [brawl, woo!]

But the TV remote wont let me change the channel to switich.

TV is on 3, Wii's on 4. TV's working fine, but the TV remote won't let me go to channel four and the manual controls on the TV have never worked.

I've tried changing to batteries in the remote, unplugging the TV, resetting the channels... pretty much everything. The remote will turn the TV on and off but thats it.

What can I do?

My tv is being stupid...?
Most TVs have a learn or scan mode, where it scans each channel for a signal. That way you don't end up having to go through one channel at a time when there's nothing there.

Try turning on the Wii, then have the TV perform the channel scan again (this is usually in the menu under setup). It should detect channel 4 and add it to the list of channels you receive. This should allow you to use the remote to go to channel 4. (note that when you Wii is off, channel 4 will just display static.)
Reply:if the remote will still turn on and off the TV try to hit the TV option button (TV,VCR, AUX,....) normaly across the top of the remote.
Reply:The remote's channel selector switch may be stucked after years of use and abuse. Check the remote first.
Reply:If you have an older remote, it is possible that it has just gone bad. I would try getting a new cheep remote.

Also, having the manual TV buttons comes in handy more that you think, and if you can afford it, I would suggest getting a new TV, but that's just my opinion.
Reply:Is it a Philips TV?
Reply:Does your remote operate MORE than just a TV set?? Does it also operate a DVD or Audio amp or Cable box??

Those remotes have a TV Mode switch on them and it MUST be in TV mode, not audio mode or dvd more or any other mode.....

That is a likely cause of failure....

If it doesn't have those modes, then your remote just decided to call it quits on you.....and you need a new one.

A work around is to disconnect, or turn off the TV signal, switch the Wii's RF channel to Channel 3 and use it .....

Then just power up/reconnect the TV cable and you're back to watching TV....
