2009 digital tv.?

Ok the Govt makes TV go digital. To help the people who can't afford digital Tv's or do not want to get rid of the analog Tv's, they spend millions to give discount cards (40 dollars) which I recieved mine today. NOW when everything finally does go digital the cable companys will have the right to raise the subscription fees because all digital programming will cost them more.

So let me try to sum this up. Govt wastes money on the gift cards and now we will have to pay more for the digital programming. Funny thing is if you opted to keep analog equipment you will be paying higher price for more and better features you will not be able to use. BUT you can say you got your 1-2 converter boxes a little cheaper :). How nice!

Why can't these gift cards be used towards converter boxes or towards the price of a new DIGITAL TV? Stupid if you ask me. Write your congressman or women and find out why the department of commerce will not allow us to apply 40 dollars towards a new tv!

2009 digital tv.?
Because that would be intelligent and look who is running the program!
Reply:So, just because someone shares YOUR opinion means anyone else's answer is BS??!?!?!

Now THAT is some BS!! Report It

Reply:OK, let's clear up one misconception right now, if you have cable, you don't need a digital box, unless you want to watch those station in the triple digits, since the cable company is taking care of that and no that does not give the cable companies to raise rates, as far as paying extra for extra service, that is up to you, if you want that extra service then go for it, then you will be paying more. But if you are just getting the box because of digital and you are on cable don't even bother with the box.
Reply:First off, you don't have to have the converter box if you use a cable box.

Second, not all cable companies are broadcasting in digital in all areas. I have Charter and they are not broadcasting in digital where I live.

Lastly, a friend of mine has one of the satellite providers and they charge $10 extra for sending their signal in HD.

In the end, its all about the almighty dollar...There are no caps put on the satellite or cable companies and they can charge what they want to and the public suffers. We don't get all the channels we want and the prices keep going up and up...

Guess they figure this going digital deal will appease the masses for a while.
