TV Replacement at Best Buy...?

If the Best Buy geek squad people decide to replace your TV, how exactly will they do it? Will they give credit? Or will they replace it with another TV that costs how much the TV you bought did?

TV Replacement at Best Buy...?
They will give you a credit for "Comparable technology."

Example:

My friend had a Pentium 4 laptop with 512mb of RAM. It was about $1600 at the time.

She got it replaced finally, and they gave her a credit for $1000, to buy another laptop. They decided on $1000 because they had a model there with a dual core processor, and 1gb of RAM, for 1k. She then chose to use the $1000 credit and purchase a $1300 laptop (thus adding $300). She could have gotten just the $1000 laptop and not had to pay anything, but she opted to add money because she needs to computer for school.

I expect you'll do a similar run-around for your TV. You were the guy who asked about the 52" CRT Sony. They'd probably price out a 52" or so, DLP set, since that's pretty much comparable. That will be about $800-1000. You can probably press for them to price out the Sony DLP, as opposed to another brand by arguing that Sony has better TVs than the other ones.

At this point say they give you $900. You can then use that to get the model they priced the replacement as (ie, the model they show you is the amount of credit you get, so you could walk out of the store with that TV and not pay any more money). You can also chose to take that $900, add like $200 more or so, and buy like a 61" DLP. I'm guessing you won't want to take the $900 and buy an LCD, because you'd only get a 37" or so TV. They won't give you a 50" LCD, because that's massive money, and you had only purchased a CRT TV.

You'll also probably want to buy a new PSP if you get a new TV, as your existing PSP does not transfer to the new television.

EDIT: Any set you get from them will probably be an improvement over your previous set. Your CRT was probably only 1080i, but nowadays all DLP sets are 1080p. So you'll get an upgrade there, plus probably more inputs, features, etc.
Reply:Why if they Decide? If you bought the Replacement plan, Your Golden.

So they don't have your same TV Model/make?

Usually they would just replace it with the same Model.

%26amp; you have to pay for a New Replacement plan. (Outta Pocket)

If it's not there, they'll give you credit for the amount you pd.
