Why won't my TV respond to a remote?

There is nothing wrong with the remote itself - we have two of the same TV and two different remotes and both TV's use to work for both remotes. Now one tv still works fine for both remotes and the other won't respond to either remote at all. I'd just get up and change the channel but I can't turn the tv/vcr mode on or off without a remote. Anyone have any suggestions?? How can I get my TV to be receptive to the romote or does anyone know how to get the TV on and off the tv/vcr mode without the remote??? I just want to be able to use the tv with the dvd player and game system. I don't have the manual anymore and I'm not taking a cheap TV to the repair shop. (The only buttons on the actual TV are volume, channel, and menu.)

Check to be sure that the sensor on the TV is not blocked by something, or dirty. You may be able to access the TV's functions by holding down a combination of the buttons on the front of the TV.
Reply:maybe the battery in your remote is dead. or you need a new tv. i dont know ?

Reply:If your remotes are universal programmable remotes, you might try reprogramming them for the TV that has quit responding to them. Otherwise, the remote sensor on you're TV might be damaged or dirty. TV/VCR mode is normally a command on the VCR. You might also try to program the remotes for the VCR itself and the TV.
Reply:maybe the infrared eye is blocked or dirty on the TV in question. That's the first thing I'd check..
