So my life is so drama filled and just bad i turn to a televison show to help. I refer to the TV about everything. well what woukld brooke do? or what would lucas say? and i watch the TV show for comfort. i want the TV shows life so bad. i no its not real but its perfect......help me

Tv show life obsession..help me?
Really, this is a hard habit to break. Although I didn't watch any more than two hours a day, it had an impact on me and I didn't realize how bad it was until we gave it to our aunt. Then I noticed that I wasn't gaining anything but wasting time.

The hardest thing to do is to get rid of it. But, it's most effective. Something else you could do is to turn the TV so that if faces the wall or cover it with an old blanket so that it's look won't tempt you into watching it. You could also put it in the basement, or another room you don't go into often. Try to not talk or think about TV either.

You also said that you rely on people on TV to make decisions. That's not healthy either. The next time you have to make a hard decision, pray or read relevant Biblical passages. Another option is asking your parents or someone else you trust.

Finally, there's so many other things you can do outside. I recommend fishing, hiking, or picking berries. Or you could get involved in sports or volunteer somewhere. Just keep your mind off TV

I hope this helps.
Reply:try cutting out TV from daily activities, for for a walk instead or join an arobics class or something to keep you occupied so you don't have to watch tv.

♥-good luck!
Reply:UNPLUG THE TV lol jk
Reply:I used to do the exact same thing! But what I did to stop it was I thought, "Is this really me? Or am I just living someone else's life?" Also, when you say these things, you are making it harder for yourself to have your own good judgment. You're trying to get into someone else's mind and make their responses your own. It's not healthy. Think to yourself, "How do my friends react when I act like Brook? Am I trying to be cool? What impression am I making on people?" I think because the people on TV are portrayed as always having the right answers, people turn to their form of character to help them live their life. In the TV shows that these people are in, a script writer made up what they were going to say, and they also made sure that what ever problem happened in that episode would be resolved. But in reality, not everything always works out perfectly like it does on TV. For me, it ended in the loss of a very once-strong friendship. So, I think you should first, limit TV time. Also, if you have an issue that you would normally turn to the TV to get help with, try talking to your friends about help, or your parents, or who ever your close to. Lastly, every time you feel yourself starting to 'impersonate' a TV character, stop and think about what YOU would really say. You need to be your own person.
Reply:OMG twins!!

I refer to my entire life as the show LOST

complety obsessed that i constantly make my own characters and play them out in my life.

I pick Kate. and i always turn into her it's soo wierd. I would go "Whats Kate going to say" or something like that.

Seriously theres nothing wrong with it! i think it's just a silly little habit and eventually i'll get over it too. But for now, just enjoy it! it's fun!
Reply:Start watching stuff that my increase your knowledge (Discovery)....perhaps Law and Order
Reply:it is a real pity you want that so much but i ll tell you one thing
