HD TV for $500 or less?

I need a new TV (old one died). I'd like the screen to be around 27".

I could buy a 6-month old Sharp 27" standard definition digital TV on Craigslist for $175. Or I could buy a new HD TV for more (new or on Craigslist).

What do you recommend? (1) Get the cheap TV and wait a few years for HD TV prices to come down? (2) Spend $450 on an 18-month old 32" Samsung HD TV? or (3) Spend $560 on a new Westinghouse 26" HD TV (on sale currently at Best Buy)?

Thanks.

A floor model might be a good option, although you need to realize that they may suffer from screen burn depending on the signal they displayed, and how long they were used in the store (mostly plasmas).

I would recommend against spending any more than $100 on a standard definition tv, as most won't have a digital tuner which will be required in the next few years.

If you only have those 3 options, I would recommend buying new (with warranty) and getting the HDTV, although I would recommend going for a 32" model if you can afford it.
Reply:none! go to circuit city and ask to but the floor model. my parents just did that for a 52" plasma and got it for $325. good luck bro.
Reply:I just bought a 32" Vizio LCD HDTV at Walmart for $597 and it has a really great picture, they also have lower prices for other LCD brands.
