Psycho TV, help? It won't turn off and won't work right.?

Ok, I left and came home. My tv that was off is now on and stuck on. No matter if I try to use the remote or push the off button, all it does is go to the default channel it has always gone to when you turn it off, but it won't go off (it just shows the channel number in the corner and a blue screen, but if I change the channel it's just fuzz). The tv is only used for playing VCR/DVD tapes. I hooked up the VCR/DVD to another tv and it works fine, so it's not the VCR/DVD. I finally unplugged it. Suggestions? Should I just trash it? Up until now, I've really liked that tv.... :( lol..

sorry about the toe..oops
Reply:Sounds like a serious problem

My TV once turned on at night but only after I set the on timer by accident since I didn't know what I was doing.

Try to check the settings one by one to see if there is something wrong.
Reply:Is this an Emerson brand set?

trash it!
Reply:The Blue Screen is created when there is no signal present....

And it's odd that you can't change channels to a Good TV channel....

Is it STUCK on the Default channel only? Can you Direct Dial in a known good channel?

IF so, you may need to autoprogram the channels back in....look in your menu for the autoprogram mode.

I have had TVs that can lose their autoprogramming and no matter what you do you can't get ANY TV station until it's autoprogrammed in again.....

The "Won't turn off part".....that is a good indicator of your problem. I THINK your microprocessor is bad OR you could simply have a STUCK BUTTON on the front panel or remote....

One simple stuck button will not allow any other button to do it's job.....like power on or off your TV set.

Press all the buttons one at a time and see it any feel pushed down all the time...it may release it too...
Reply:Try unplugging the Tv from the wall. If it stays on, i think your TV is possessed :P

Honestly, I have no idea what else you could do except say goodbye :( Hope this helps and good luck with your TV!
