TV Auto Brightness?

Heres the deal. When I'm watching a Blu-ray DVD or playing a PS3 game (all through my PS3), my TV automatically turns down the brightness in dark scenes, like in a space scene in star wars, the brightness almost drops to nothing and i cant make out what is happening. I bought a new monster HDMI cable, so its not the cable, and ive screwed around with a lot of the menu options on the TV

Q: Why does my TV do this? More importantly, HOW DO I TURN IT OFF?

Reply:Their is a option on many TV"s which controls the brightness of the image according to the brightness of the ambient environment.

In other words if the room is bright the tv turns down the brightness setting, and vice versa.

Their is a setting somewhere in your configuration which will turn this option off. It is probably on your TV but may be on one of the other components, perhaps the Blu-ray Player.

Look in the setup menu.

Reply:One thing you forgot to mention.....

My TV does this with TV shows too....

And I bet it doesn't do it to TV shows....

So that would tell me the brightness problem MAY show up on your Display screen, but if it was actually the TV at fault, then ALL SOURCES would go dark......including your TV shows....

So.....what's the commonality here?

The Blu-Ray of course !

Does it have it's own brightness and contrast controls built into it??

If it does, you've been adjusting the wrong device.....
