TV Problems?

I've had my tv for years and recently it's been giving me a lot of trouble. It's a JVC 48" tv, the model is AV-48WP30. I'm watching my tv and all of a sudden it makes a buzzing noise and then it's followed by clicks and the tv screen goes black. I notice that the power light starts flashing, and I'm unable to turn off the tv or do anything using the remote. The only way to turn off the tv is to unplug it and then plug it in again. But once i tried this method the tv responded the same way - making the clicking sound and the power light flashing. So if anyone has any knowledge with tvs or has had this problem before, your help would be appreciated.

From your description, I'd say you have probably suffered a power supply failure. It'd be a shame to lose it, but as you say, it's a few years old (probably 4). New rear projection TV's like that one can be had for next to nothing these days since plasma and LCD have pretty well taken over the market.

*IF* you can find a shop locally that has some experience with JVC rear projection, and has *some* experience with this kind of failure (your description was great, BTW), they might be able to get you a ball-park figure for power supply work. But at this point, it might be time to consider the alternatives.
