Hi def tv color trouble!?

alright so, i just got a hi def tv. and I have the color set up and everything and the HD channels play GREAT. but why do the regular channels seam so...diminished and dull? is there something special i need to buy so they look normal? its not the color on the tv thats all set up..its just the tv. Or is it like this on all HD TVs? Cause it seems the channels on a regular tv that arent Hi Def look better than on a Hi Def TV.

It's normal. I know exactly what you mean. The larger the tv, the worse the standards definition channels will look. Some channels look so bad, you'll swear the resolution is worse on your hdtv than on a regular tv. It isn't. It's just that you are looking at this resolution on a larger screen, and also can compare the crappy resolution to your amazing hd resolution which makes it seem worse.

Don't worry, you don't have to go and return your tv. I have a 60" hdtv, and sometimes it's hard to watch the regular resolution (especially if I'm watching sports).
Reply:Standard definition (480i, 480p) channels (or sources) will appear a bit pixelated on an HDTV because they have to be stretched to fill the higher resolution screen. Some TVs do a better job than others at smoothing out standard definition content.
